At Stake

There is a problem with the education system, and the future is at stake. Our future literally lies in the hands of the growing generation. The old ways of education, depicted in this photo, allowed more punishment and more responsibility. A lot of people would say that the problem with education today lies with poor teachers. But, the problem really lies in the home. People aren't taking responsibility for their own children, teachers aren't allowed to punish students, therefore kids don't do well and they don't learn anything. Kids are given rewards when there should be punishments. Students are being rewarded for laziness, stupidity, and disrespect. This doesn't sufficiently prepare them for the future ahead. Nowadays, both parents in the home work, so they send their children off to daycare where their children learn from the beginning not to respect their parents. Therefore, why would they respect teachers or anyone else for that matter? Another factor is that no time is taken to actually teach students due to having to get them to pass ridiculous tests that are now required. Teachers are threatened to lose their job if test scores aren't good enough. A teacher can only do so much. Teachers are then forced to teach only what's on tests instead of actually teaching important material. This also may force good, honest teachers to help students cheat so they don't lose their jobs. Teachers can only work with what they're given to begin with. If the child is already classically conditioned to be a dipshit, it's hard to turn that around. Another thing about the system today is that crybaby parents will call higher up authorities if their child gets in trouble or gets a bad grade or doesn't pass a class, and the administrators have to award the student with no punishment and a passing grade so they don't get fired or sued. It's a messed up world.

 The solution lies in the old ways of education. It was better in the past where the teachers were able to do what needed to be done to get respect. I also see a solution in having mothers back in the home to raise their children right. Testing also needs to be reduced so there is less stress on students and teachers and more emphasis needs to be on actually learning.
